This memorial, located in Arthur W. Anderson Peace Park in Loves Park, Illinois, was conceived by Mr. Anderson to honor veterans who served in the five major wars of the 20th century. The Field of Honor features eight life-size bronze statues of military figures representing various eras and branches of service. These statues stand before a series of 40 American flags, symbolizing the unity and strength of the nation. Five vertical columns, one for each war, provide a visual framework for the memorial. Additionally, a small column honors the civilian contributions that supported the war efforts. The public work of art is a powerful tribute to veterans who sacrificed their time and, in many cases, their lives, to defend their country. It offers a space for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance of the courage and dedication displayed by these individuals.
