"Peace, Service, Community" is a memorial dedicated to the police and firefighters of Cedar Rapids, Iowa located at the Riverfront near the Main Police Station. Commissioned by the City of Cedar Rapids and unveiled in 2000, this powerful installation combines granite, bronze, and stainless steel to create a tribute to the courage and service of these first responders. At the heart of the reaching torso-shaped blue granite memorial is a thoughtfully designed fountain. The water symbolizes the flow of tears over the names of those who died while on duty. The artwork honors the legacy of firefighters and law enforcement officers, celebrating their commitment and bravery both in the past and present. With an etching of a roseate representing Fire and Rescue on one side and a shield-shaped police badge on the other, this memorial serves as a tribute and inspiration for future generations, reminding all who visit of the sacrifices made in the name of public safety.
