Lee Gobble Commemorative, "Mr. Fairfield"

The Lee Gobble Commemorative Statue, unveiled in 2017 at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center in Fairfield, Iowa, is a life-size bronze sculpture that honors Lee T. Gobble, affectionately known as "Mr. Fairfield." With his hand raised in pride, Gobble is depicted presenting the restored courthouse clock tower—a testament to his lifelong advocacy for its restoration. Behind him, a vibrant ceramic tile mural showcases his legendary collection of clothier ties, resembling a majestic turkey tail. This mixed-media civic art project, set against a backdrop of stone daffodil planters at the Civic Center,  celebrates Gobble’s legacy and embodies the spirit of community and heritage through commemorative public artwork.
